Disappointing book

Have you read this book? Non Serviam: The Hypostasis of Dissent I (read for free here).

I like dark and grimdark fantasy novels. When I found it on Goodreads I thought I had discovered a hidden gem. As I always do, I read the reviews.

I didn't trust the reviews much since my preferences often clash with common people's likes. 

Boy, was I wrong.

That book was a huge disappointment. An incredible waste of potential. All the reviews are right yet they somehow fail to mention how badly structured that plot is (except maybe for one review). First half of the book is flashback after unnecessary flashback, unclear plot. Second half of the book is a mess full of tropes and useless side characters.

What is a disappointing book you have read? I am interested in your book rants. Maybe they will help me avoid a disgraceful book.

A thread about NS by Sfarda on DeviantArt? I'm wheezing lmfao :lol: unexpected. 

She's a piece of work. The author Sfarda L. Gül is a serious case of chronically online sociopolitical activist. She's a white Russian girl posing as SWANA behind a nazar 🧿 face mask and heavy eye makeup, rejecting her Russian roots since the Ukrainian invasion started. How do you think her book is going to be? She's a mess so she wrote a mess.

First of all, I used to care about her deeply and I considered her a dear friend until she lashed out on me for correcting her regarding Modern Greek phonetics. Mind you, she's working in a lab and has studied something related to medical laboratory analysis. I have a degree in Slavic linguistics and a Masters degree in language and linguistics. Anyway, I corrected her and she disliked it (she claimed mainland Modern greek had no voiceless [s] sound as in 'toss', according to her mainland Modern Greek pronounces s as sh which is flat out wrong). She lashed out at me and called me a whitesplainer who whitesplained to her a language she speaks.

She's also known for harassing black women in the writing industry. In general, she hates POCs when their skin is dark or they're visibly POC unlike her, who's white and LARPing. 

She has called Taiwanese people "white adjacents" for being diaspora and living in Western countries.

You'd be surprised.

There's proof of all this but I'll only feature screenshots showing how she harassed me on Instagram with a sockpuppet account and only stopped when I DMed the sockpuppet asking them if they were Sfarda/Lacrima Mortis (her former username). The sockpuppet account was deleted after reading my message, as the screenshots show. Notice how the sockpuppet has a pretentious pseudo-intellectual Greek sounding username. [IMAGES SHOWN ABOVE] Interesting how they deleted their account after I asked whether they were Sfarda L Gül or not. 

She also has a YouTube channel where she's criticised other authors who create sockpuppet accounts to harass former friends.

 

So this was the comment left on the Literature thread with screenshots proving the claims.
